Funeral services for Margie Maedelle Wilson, age 90, of Roanoke will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at 2:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Caleb Wilson, Rev. Ricky Emery, Jacob “Jake” Gay, and Dan Mallette officiating. Burial will follow at Napoleon Church of Christ Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Monday, August 17, 2015. Mrs. Wilson passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015, at Traylor’s Nursing Center. Survivors include: three daughters, Carolyn Shelnutt of Roanoke, Dianne Bassett (husband, Kirby) of Rock Stand, and Janet Campbell (husband, Ray) of Hokes Bluff; three sons, Marshall Wilson (wife, Marilyn) of Roanoke, Wayne Wilson (wife, Faye) of Woodland, and Doyle Wilson of Roanoke; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Mallette of Crump, TN, and Mildred Kirk of Tuscaloosa, AL; five brothers, John Spradlin of Tuscaloosa, AL, Ronald Edward Spradlin of Springville, AL, Doyce Spradlin of Wedowee, Harvey Spradlin of Knoxville, TN, and Mack Spradlin of Savannah, TN; and two half-brothers, Danny Spradlin of Heflin and Donnie Spradlin of Woodland. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Wilson’s grandsons. A Roanoke native, Mrs. Wilson was born on January 6, 1925, the daughter of Robert Young and Gussie Olga Daniel Spradlin. She was a member of Heritage Baptist Church and was a retired weaver for Handley Cotton Mills. Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Billy Edwin Wilson; one brother, Robert Young Spradlin, Jr.; one son-in-law, Eugene “Buck” Shelnutt; and a granddaughter, Teresa Jean Shelnutt.
