Obituary of Larry Wilfred Woody

Funeral services for Larry Wilfred Woody, age 69, of Roanoke, will be held Tuesday, November 17, 2015, at 2:00 pm from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. S. T. Janney and Rev. Scott Whaley officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, November 16th. Mr. Woody died Saturday, November 14, 2015, at Wedowee Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Judy Hollaway Woody of Roanoke; one daughter, Susan Woody Storey (husband, Glenn) of Roanoke; one son, Larry Scott Woody (wife, Jan) of Roanoke; four grandchildren; two brothers, David Woody (wife, Sharon) of LaGrange, Ga. and Dr. Benny Woody (wife, Alexandra) of Franklin , Tn. Pallbearers will be Joe Weathers, Harrell Day, Jeff Woody, Tim Woody, David Hughes and Blair Parker. Les Woody will serve as an honorary pallbearer. A lifelong Randolph County resident, Mr. Woody was born November 18, 1945, the son of Bryce Wilfred and Florence Lemerle Holderfield Woody. He was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church and served in the National Guard. Mr. Woody retired after 34 years with the U. S. Postal Service. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Mary Jim Benefield Woody; two grandchildren, Paige and Matthew Woody; and a brother, Thom Perry, II.
