Obituary of Lowell Hollis Boyd

Funeral services for Lowell Hollis Boyd, age 80, of Roanoke, will be held on Monday, January 25, 2016, at 2:00 PM from Antioch Christian Church with Rev. Anthony Herren officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Sunday, January 24, 2016. Mr. Boyd passed away on Friday, January 22, 2016, at Hospice LaGrange. Survivors include his wife, Sheila Ussery Boyd of Roanoke; one step-daughter, Kim Loveless (husband, Paul) of Roanoke; one son, David Boyd (wife, Erin) of Athens, GA; three grandchildren, Erica Boyd, Jordan Boyd, and Mary Margaret Boyd; one step-granddaughter, Maegan Loveless; and one sister, Dorothy Tyson of Carroll County, GA. Pallbearers will be R.L. Farmer, Cleveland Sanders, Barry Bozeman, Todd Harvel, Eddie McGraw, and Chris Jackson. Mike Coker will serve as an honorary pallbearer. A Carroll County native, Mr. Boyd was born on December 3, 1935, the son of Marvie Jordan and Grettele Samples Boyd. He was a member of Antioch Christian Church and had been employed by AT&T as a security supervisor. He was preceded in death by his parents.
