OBITUARY Funeral services for Mr. William Herbert Waller, of Roanoke, age 89, will be held Thursday, November 5, 2009, at 2:00 pm from the Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Fran Irmiter and Richard Laird officiating. Burial to follow in the Randolph Memory Gardens with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, November 4, 2009. Mr. Waller died Monday, November 2, 2009 at Lanier Memorial Hospital. Survivors include one brother, Waymon Waller of Roanoke, Charles Hodges, friend and caregiver, of Roanoke; five nieces; two nephews; other relatives and friends. Mr. Waller was born July 8, 1920, the son of Jesse and Nancy Etta Bugg Clifford. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Roanoke, an Air Force Veteran during WWII, having served as a tail gunner on B-29s in the South Pacific from 1944-46 in the 13th Air Force, Crew 45. After the war, Mr. Waller worked for Prestridge Buick and Waller's Body shop before relocating to the Miami area, where he worked in real estate and remodeling houses, retiring back to Roanoke. He was also an expert at refinishing furniture, enjoyed eating out with his friends and riding in the cart with his golf buddies. Mr. Waller was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ruby Swann and Louise Milam; one brother, Ernest Waller.
