Funeral services for Thomas Marvin Mayton, age 88, of Roanoke will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2016, at 2:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Scott Whaley officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at Welcome Home Baptist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00-8:00 PM on Saturday, December 3, 2016.
Mr. Mayton passed away Friday, December 2, 2016, at his residence.
Survivors include: one daughter, Joyce Petty of Roanoke; one son, Ronald Mayton (wife, Rebecca) of Brunswick, GA; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Frankie Gammon of Knoxville, TN, and Bettye Beene of Macon, GA.
A Chattanooga, Tennessee native, Mr. Mayton was born on October 20, 1928, the son of Marvin James and Louise Stephens Mayton. He was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean War, a member of Faith Baptist Church and was self-employed. Mr. Mayton was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lee Ellen Mayton; an infant son; one sister, Kathleen Simpson; and one brother, J.P. Mayton.
