Funeral services for Harlin Sheppard, age 85, of Roanoke will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at 2:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Charles Fetner officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty East Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Monday, March 27, 2017. Mr. Sheppard passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017, at his residence. Survivors include: niece/caregiver, Teresa Kirby; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Diane Seago of Jonesboro, GA, Elaine Clark of Riverdale, GA, and Novice Gasaway of Mableton, Ga; and three brothers, Wayne Sheppard (wife, Debbie) of Stockbridge, GA, Travis Sheppard of Douglasville, GA, and Kenny Sheppard of Roanoke. Pallbearers will be Tim McManus, Kenneth Phillips, Riley Burke, and Tony Sheppard. A Randolph County native, Mr. Sheppard was born on May 17, 1931, the son of Jerry and Mattie Gore Sheppard. He was a United States Army veteran, a member of the East Point Masonic Lodge, American Legion of Roanoke, and the Rock Mills Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Sheppard worked 37 years for General Motors. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 63 years, Janell Sheppard; one daughter, Cindy Phillips; one son, Mike Sheppard; one grandson, Tommy Burke; one great-grandson, Dalton Burke; two sisters, Marlene Moon and Delte Sheppard; and one brother, Jerry Sheppard. Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to the Rock Mills Cemetery Fund c/o Sherry Towler.
