Obituary of Clyde Eugene Dobson, Sr.

Funeral services for Clyde Eugene Dobson, Sr., age 88, of Wadley will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at 12:00 PM from Macedonia Baptist Church with Bro. Donald Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 4, 2017. Mr. Dobson will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Wednesday. Mr. Dobson passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. Survivors include his wife, Margie Dobson of Wadley; four daughters, Debbie Fetner of Wadley, Tina Knight (Kim) of Wadley, Patricia Bailey (Junior) of Wadley, and Kelli McCain (Neil) of Woodland; one daughter-in-law, Renea Dobson of Wadley; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one stepbrother, Michael Whaley (Teresa) of Ft. Walton, FL. Pallbearers will be Hunter McCain, Rusty Bailey, Robby Bailey, Kevin Knight, Kyle Knight, Richie Fetner, and Charlie Fetner. A Randolph County native, Mr. Dobson was born on May 29, 1928, the son of Charlie Reed and Audrey Duke Dobson. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, a United States Army veteran of the Korean War, and worked as a security guard for Plantation Patterns. Mr. Dobson was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Clyde Eugene Dobson, Jr. Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to the Macedonia Baptist Church General Fund.
