Obituary of James Daniel Watson

Funeral services for James Daniel Watson, age 81, of Roanoke, will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2017, at 3:00 pm, from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Gerald Romine and Bro. Roger Hammett officiating.  Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 pm on Saturday, June 3rd.

Mr. Watson died Thursday, June 1, 2017, at his home.

Survivors include one daughter, Teresa Olson of Opelika; one step-daughter, Regina Gosdin of Roanoke; one step-son, Anthony Gosdin (wife, Monica) of Roanoke; one sister, Catherine Anglin of Rock Mills; one brother, Arthur Watson of Roanoke; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Danny Anglin, Blaine Gosdin, Tristian Gosdin, Kaleb Bennett, Damien Bennett, and Jimmy Lynn Watson.

A lifelong Randolph County resident, Mr. Watson was born on November 18, 1935, the son of Olif Daniel and Mattie Sue Edmondson Watson.  He had been self-employed as a painter.  Mr. Watson was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Watson; his parents; two daughters, Rechell Gosdin and Judy Ward; and two brothers, John Wayne Watson and Wesley Watson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Share America Foundation, Inc. (PO Box 42, Tunnel Hill, GA 30755).

Quattlebaum Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
