Obituary of Sue Johnson

Funeral services for Sue Johnson, age 96, of Roanoke, will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at 2:00 PM, from Whites Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Stoney Halsey and Rev. Mike Nobley officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, October 6, 2017.  Mrs. Johnson will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Saturday.

Mrs. Johnson passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2017, at her residence.

Survivors include one grandson, Kris Johnson of Roanoke; one niece, Betty Ellis of Montgomery; one nephew, Delmour Green (wife, Margaret) of Wedowee.

Pallbearers will be Phil Shepard, Jamie Heard, Cain Heard, Daniel Bozeman, Jimmy Bozeman, Delmour Green, and Dwayne Satterwhite.

A Roanoke native, Mrs. Johnson was born on May 24, 1921, the daughter of William Warner and Elsie Owens Brown.  She was a member of Whites Chapel United Methodist Church and had worked as a seamstress with Palm Beach.  Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Loys Johnson; son, Greg G. Johnson; daughter-in-law, Betty Johnson; daughter, Delores Ann Johnson; brother, Cleo Brown; sister, Sara Workman.
