Artemio “Art” Salas, age 73, of Roanoke passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at his residence. 

Survivors include his wife, Judy Dowdell Salas of Roanoke; four daughters, Nora Pitts (Eddie) of Arkansas, Lora Weaver (Darren) of Southside, AL, Amanda Peterson (Jeff) of Tennessee, and Sara Norred (Sidney) of Roanoke; three sons, Al Salas of Roanoke, Art Salas of Illinois, and Anthony Salas (Jessica) of South Carolina; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Anna Chapa of California; and one brother, Arthur Salas of California.

A San Antonio, Texas native, Mr. Salas was born on November 2, 1951, the son of Arturo Salas and Simona Chapa. He was a United States Air Force veteran where he served in Operation Just Cause in Panama and was a member of the Freemasons and the American Legion.  Mr. Salas worked in computer repair and also was a volunteer translator for the local police department.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Albert Salas.
