Obituary of Big Wayne Herren

Funeral services for Anthony Wayne “Big Wayne” Herren, age 68, of Roanoke will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Greg Moore and Bro. Keith Benefield officiating.  Burial will follow at Taylor’s Crossroads Church of Christ Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00-3:00 PM on Saturday before services begin.

Mr. Herren passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Tanner Medical Center-East Alabama in Wedowee.

Survivors include his father, Edward Herren of Woodland; one daughter, Tiffany Conn of Roanoke; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild with one on the way; two sisters, Susan Bennett (Roger) and Lisa Herren, both of Woodland; one brother, David Herren (Sandy) of Woodland; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Koleton Moon-Conn, William Peraza, Jalen Goodwin, Brett Conn, Anthony Williams, and Brittany Eastwood.

A Roanoke native, Mr. Herren was born on December 5, 1956, the son of Edward K. and Margie Nell Johns Herren.  He was a member of Taylors Crossroads Church of Christ and worked in maintenance at Mohawk, Amoco Fabrics and Fibers, and Southwire.  Mr. Herren was preceded in death by his mother; his wife, Merita “Rita” Herren; two sons, Heath Conn and Joel Conn; one great-grandchild, Landon Kyle Ragan; one sister, June Herren; and one brother, Eddie Herren.
