Obituary of Lavelle B. Parmer

Funeral services for Lavelle B. Parmer, age 88, of Woodland will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Keith Runels officiating.  Burial will follow at Bethel East Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00-2:00 PM on Thursday before services begin.

Mrs. Parmer passed away on Monday, March 24, 2025, at her residence.

Survivors include her children, Victoria P. Anderson (David) of Opelika, Deborah Williams (Ricky) of Pinson, Cynthia Lane (Ronnie) of Opelika, Rex Parmer (Julie) of Opelika, Rhoda M. Conway of Penton, and Pam Standridge (Michael, Sr.) of Opelika; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Brett Parmer, Chris Parmer, Michael Standridge, Jr., Clifford Standridge, Derek Hovell, and Basil Conway, IV.  Scott Carlisle will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

A Chambers County native, Mrs. Parmer was born on July 10, 1936, the daughter of Marvin Baker Sr., and Hattie Merle Hammock Baker.  She retired from Kimberly Clark after working in the office and on the plant floor and created the safety manual the company still uses today.  Mrs. Parmer was a hardworking woman and will be missed very much.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Garvell Parmer, Sr.; a son, Garvell Parmer, Jr.; a daughter, Tina M. Herzog; and siblings, Marvin Baker, Jr., Lorene Hurst, and Althea Jones. 

Memorials may be floral.
