Graveside services for Michael Ford Bassett, age 79, of Wadley will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Union Hill Baptist Church.


Mr. Bassett passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025, at RMC in Anniston.


Survivors include two sisters, Robin Bassett Cofield of Anniston, and Sherry Bassett Mota of Tucson, Arizona, special nephew, Jacob Bassett of Alabaster and multiple other nieces and nephews.


A Roanoke native, Mr. Bassett was born on October 10, 1945, the son of Marvin Ford and Mildred Knight Bassett.  He was learning with Jehovah’s Witnesses and was a Christian by faith.  Mr. Bassett worked at the U.S. Department of Commerce in the Census Bureau before retiring and was also a United States Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.  He was a member of the Wadley Volunteer Fire Department.  Mr. Bassett was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Larry Bassett.
