Funeral services for John Paul East, age 82, of Roanoke, will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 12:00 Noon at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Nathan Sanders and Aidan Sanders officiating.  Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 AM – 12:00 on Monday before services begin.

Mr. East passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025, at his residence.

Survivors include one daughter, Nikki Sanders (Eddie) of Roanoke; five grandchildren, Nathan Sanders, Shelby Bramblett, Joshua Bramblett, Aidan Sanders, and Caleb Sanders; and one brother, Robert Sides of Auburn.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Sanders, Caleb Sanders, Aidan Sanders, Nathan Sanders, Beric Colley and Gary Walls.

Mr. East was born on August 11, 1943, the son of Carl and Myrtle Richardson Sides. He was Christian by faith and was a member of Huguley Baptist Church. Mr. East spent his entire career working at West Point Pepperell as a fixer and in maintenance. He enjoyed planting and tending to his garden. He also enjoyed “directing” his family members and those that knew him best. Mr. East was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen East; one daughter, Paula East Bramblett; infant son, John Paul East, Jr.; his parents; grandchild, Kathleen Nicole Sanders; son-in-law, Rod Bramblett; sister, Glenda Miles; and a brother Curtis Sides.
