Funeral services for Hugh Dorsey Benefield, Jr., age 84, of LaGrange, GA, will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at 3:00 PM Central Time at Bethany Lime Congregational Christian Church with Rev. Stanley Yarbrough officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 2:00 PM Central time on Sunday.

Mr. Benefield passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at his home.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Reba Wilder Benefield; one son, Greg Benefield (Margie); two daughters, Sharon Lewis (Brian) and Kristy Brown (Russ); five grandchildren, Bryse Benefield (Alyscia), McKenzie Benefield, Bethany Lewis, Ben Brown, and Rusty Brown; two great-grandchildren, Tenley and Graydon Benefield; and two brothers, Don Benefield (Brenda) and Mike Benefield.

Pallbearers will be Bryse Benefield, Ben Brown, Brian Lewis, Russ Brown, Clint Yarbrough, Andrew Knight, and Michael Knight.  Graydon Benefield will serve as honorary pallbearer.

A Roanoke native, Mr. Benefield was born on July 1, 1941, the son of Hugh Dorsey and Mary Cunningham Benefield.  He was a dedicated member of Bethany Lime Congregational Christian Church for 62 years and served as a senior deacon.  Mr. Benefield had a special love for his family and was extremely proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but he always put his love of the Lord first.  He played football at Handley High School and enjoyed watching LaGrange Granger Football and Alabama Football. Go Grangers and Roll Tide!  Mr. Benefield worked at LaGrange Ace Hardware and retired from Stewart Wholesale.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Bethany Lime Church or to a cancer fund.
