I went to nursing school with Tonya and worked with her at EAMC. She was the smartest in the class and a wonderful nurse. She will be missed!!

Tonya,
I am so heartbroken. I haven’t worked with you in 14 years but you are someone I will never forget. There are 2 words that immediately come to mind when I think of you, sweet and FUNNY. You were always smiling and joking and making night shift more fun. Love and hugs to your family.

I am absolutely devastated Tonya!
When I was a new baby nurse that didn’t know anything, you welcomed me to Renal and taught me so much! You treated our patients just like they were your family members and those patients loved you! You taught me how to have empathy and love for my patients! You taught me so much critical thinking and you always had my back. I remember being terrified to float to other floors and you would do it for me! You told me and everyone else countless times how much you loved your kids and family and I hope they get a chance to read these memories and know that! I'm going to miss you so much friend!

How I'm going to always miss sniffing on you. You were always beautiful at work inside and out and had a different perfume on each day. We have been working together off and on for 12 years and the speech was always the same "Friend why are you looking at me like that" because everyone was a friend to her. Get your rest FRIEND you will forever be miss.

Tonya,
You were the best preceptor that I could have asked for! Your sweet kind and funny spirit made our 12 hours fly by. From our trips to the gift shop or to get our coffee, you made every moment special and kept me laughing. We had so many conversations about life, and I will cherish those conversations forever. You were so knowledgeable and never hesitated to help out your coworkers. I always hoped that we would get to hang out again after I left EAMC, but I guess life got in the way. You will be missed by so many people! Until we meet again, I just want to say I love you and thank you for everything you taught me!

I was introduced to you by two amazing individuals, Krista and Skylear! When I first arrived at renal and met you, the first thing you exclaimed was, "my God, you have a lot of hair; can I have some of it!" We shared a laugh over that. From that moment on, you became my work mama, always fussing at me about something. Not a single day passed without you texting or calling me when you began traveling. I worried about you every day regarding your return to renal and EAMC in general. Soon after, you moved to 7T, and once I finished my work, I came to visit your floor. You were always excited about our coffee and breakfast walks. We all knew that you couldn't start your day without coffee, complete with your French vanilla creamers and a happy dance while stirring it. You were a nurse who didn't hesitate to give a bath or lend a hand when needed! A work mama who constantly reminded me to moisturize my face or fluff out my afro. Lord knows, if I could just hear you say, "My God, I don’t wanna be in charge of nobody today but myself!" or "When are you coming back to work!" one more time, it would truly warm my heart. To know you was to love you unconditionally! I will treasure every video, picture, and text, replaying them over and over just to hear your sweet voice! Sweet Tonya,
Thank you for all the laughs and smiles. It always brightened my day to hear “hey friend” when you walked in a room. Thank you for all the white chocolate peppermint mochas :-) We will always miss you so dearly in dialysis. We love you.
