Funeral services for Billy Joe Mulkey, age 91, of Oneonta, formerly of Roanoke, will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Kevin Lo’Veless officiating.  Burial will follow at Highway Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00-1:00 PM on Saturday before services begin.

Mr. Mulkey passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at UAB St. Vincent’s East in Birmingham.

Survivors include: two sons, James Samuel Mulkey (Lea) and Terry Mulkey; his wife, Jody Hood; sister, Florine White; brother, Ricky Mulkey; four grandchildren, Chris Mulkey, Anthony Drake Mulkey, Michael “AJ” Mulkey, and Jayson Mulkey; one great-grandchild, Wylder Mulkey; extended family, Tonya Hood Traylor (Robert), Tyler Sims, Sirinity Sims, Meghan Hall, Shaun Payne, Branandon Payne, Carisa Allen, TJ Payne, Raelynn Payne, and Dakota Blackmon.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Mulkey, Meghan Hall, Shaun Payne, Branandon Payne, Michael “AJ” Mulkey, and Tyler Sims.

Mr. Mulkey was born on August 18, 1934, the son of Hoyt and Bernice Striblin Mulkey.  He loved Auburn football and was a member of the Church at Mercy Hill in Oneonta. He had been employed as a heavy equipment operator as part of the Randolph County Commissioners road crew. Mr. Mulkey was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Overton Mulkey; son, Michael Allen Mulkey; and his parents.
