Funeral services for Shelby Cobb Treadwell, age 89, of Roanoke will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Rock Stand Congregational Christian Church with Bro. Stoney Halsey and Bro. Stanley Yarbrough officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00-7:00 PM on Sunday, April 12, 2026. Mrs. Treadwell will lie in state for one hour prior to services beginning on Monday.
Mrs. Treadwell passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Traylor’s Retirement Center.
Survivors include: one daughter, Denise Wortham (Leaveston) of Roanoke; two sons, David Treadwell (Lisa) and Kenneth Treadwell, both of Roanoke; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one brother, William E. “Boe” Cobb.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Treadwell, Mark Wortham, Tyler Treadwell, Trae Johnson, Robert Cavender, and Garrett Hunter. Honorary pallbearers will be Ethan Wortham and Kody Waldrop.
A Gadsden, Alabama native, Mrs. Treadwell was born on December 23, 1936, the daughter of Freeman and Pearl Mason Cobb. She was a member of Rock Stand Congregational Christian Church and worked as a seamstress for over 40 years for Playtex, Stephanie Fashions, Fashion Star, and Palm Beach. Mrs. Treadwell was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray Treadwell; two grandsons, Kenneth Britton Treadwell and Corey Wayne Treadwell; sisters, Marie Rashford, Adilene Cottle, and Vera Wilson; and brothers, Cecil Cobb, Harold Cobb, Houston Cobb, and Pete Cobb.
Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Association of Alabama at P.O. Box 590146, Birmingham, AL 35259.
