LaRhonda Susan “Sue” Cofield, 67, of Roanoke passed away on Thursday, May 7,

2026, at her residence.

Survivors include her husband, Ricky Cofield of Roanoke; stepson, Brian Cofield;

granddaughter Hannah Cofield Green (Braxton); sister, Cindy Meadows; sister-in-law,

Jeanette Waldrep; brothers-in-law, Leeroy Cofield (Dovie) and Troy Cofield (Susan); and

several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Cofield was born on April 14, 1959, the daughter of Alan and Jackie Wilson Hester.

She was a member of Heritage Baptist Church and worked as a corrections officer for

the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department and as a dispatcher for the Roanoke City

Police for 25 years in both. Mrs. Cofield was a loving wife, grandmother, and aunt. She

loved spending time with her granddaughter and she loved her jobs in law enforcement.

Mrs. Cofield enjoyed NASCAR racing, especially Jeff Gordon, and directing traffic at the

races. She also loved to read. Mrs. Cofield was preceded in death by her parents; a

sister, Donna Hester; brother-in-law, Stanley Cofield; sisters-in-law, Patricia Mulkey,

Annett Trigg; and father- and mother -in-law, Alais and Ruth Cofield.

A private service will be held at a later date.
