Memorial services for Helen Lovvorn Mitchum, age 82, of Roanoke, will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 11:00 am at Trinity Baptist Church with Bro. Tim Whaley officiating.

Mrs. Mitchum passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026, at her residence.

 Mrs. Mitchum was born in Boaz on August 2, 1943, the daughter of Tug and Mary Jo Lovvorn. She was Christian by faith and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Mitchum worked as a teller for Commercial Bank. She devoted her life to loving and caring for her family, finding her greatest joy in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She also found peace and beauty in nature, especially tending to her many plants, her hummingbirds, and her many flowers and ferns throughout the yard. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Keith D. Mitchum, II.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas William “Tommy” Mitchum; daughter, Kim Railey (Gerald) of Tallassee; two sons, Keith Mitchum (Pam) of Roanoke and Kevin Mitchum (Lisa) of Newnan, GA; sister, Katherine Lovvorn Jackson (Jimmy) of Snellville; eight grandchildren, Drew Mitchum, Ashleigh Mitchum Bailey (Samuel), Anna Mitchum Staples (Kameron) , Abbie Mitchum, Austin Railey, Emily Railey, Ethan Railey and Andrew Roberts; and three great-grandchildren, Wynn Staples, Waylon Bailey, Bentley Bailey, and another on the way.
