Funeral services for Barbara Ruth Bassett, age 90, of Wadley will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Scott Whaley officiating.  Burial will follow at Forrester’s Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00-2:00 PM on Friday before services begin.

Ms. Bassett passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Tanner-East Alabama Medical Center in Wedowee.

Survivors include: one son, Malcom Bassett (Beth) of Wadley; Beebe Chappell (Kip) of Oxford, AL, who she considered her daughter; four grandchildren, Summer Benedit (Rob) of Roswell, GA, Brandy McDaniel of Alex City, AL, Chan Bassett (Crystal) of Woodland, AL, and Nicki Taylor (Shane) of Wadley, AL; 11 great-grandchildren, Danny Noles, Rylan Bassett, Casen Bassett, Braylee Bassett, Kolson Bassett, Colby McDaniel, Victoria McDaniel, Morgan McDaniel, Heydin McDaniel, Brittany Neudecker (Dylan), and Haley Lanter (Tyler); two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Rachel Taylor of Wadley.

Pallbearers will be Rylan Bassett, Casen Bassett, Danny Noles, Kip Chappell, Dale Knight, Heydin McDaniel.  Braylee Bassett will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

A Wadley native, Ms. Bassett was born on April 19, 1936, the daughter of Henry Lewis and Elizabeth Wright Taylor.  She was a member of Soul’s Harbor Church. Ms. Bassett worked as a seamstress for Palm Beach for 28 years, for Stephanie Fashions, and she was a sitter for others until she was 80 years old.  She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Above all, she was a God-fearing Christian woman.  Ms. Bassett was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Rodney Bassett; a grandson, Mark Noles; a great-grandson, Logan Bassett; a great-granddaughter, Martie Marie Smith; and siblings, Gordon Taylor, Douglas Taylor, and Durwood Taylor.

Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to Quattlebaum Funeral Home to go toward final expenses.
