Sylvia was such a wonderful person. I grew up with Liz and spent many days and nights at her home during childhood. She was a fabulous mom and a generous spirit. She was a wonderful role model. I am so sorry for her loss. She will be sorely missed.

I recall visiting her Sister Virginia Gillian. She was older than I recall she went to study in Europe. Mayor Gillian and Mrs. Gillian were good parents. Virginia joined Sylvia her Senior year. We went to First Baptist Church, back in the day. I recall thinking wow what a wonderful opportunity. I would g ear of Sylvia off and on. Her mother taught at Handley Enementary. I recall when Mayor Gillian was Mayor; Mrs. Gillian had a Birthday coming up and he put a Silver Dollar on every day of the month for Mrs. Gillian . I thought what a unique gift. It was fun to hear the ladies of the Church speak of their children while us younger children listened. I miss Virginia and those day. God please be with Sylvia's family during their loss. She was pretty and fun to watch. Virginia became a Nurse. She was also fun and beautiful. I believe Virginia joined Sylvia in Europe in the eleventh grade not twelfth. LOVE TO the family.

Sylvia was a fun, generous, dependable, and caring friend to me. One would think that I was 40 years older than her instead of the other way around. I'm grateful for the time we spent together.

Sylvia was a Senior at Judson College the year that I was a freshman. She was such an energetic “upper classman” to who we all admired and aspired to follow in her footsteps.

Sylvia was a wonderful and very close friend of mine for over 35 years. I will miss her a great deal. She was full of enthusiasm and joy and lived life to the fullest, despite having experienced some major losses in her life. Moreover, she was a very kind person to everyone she encountered. I liked to tell her as a joke to "act your age," because she had remained so active and involved in so many of life's pursuits, even when her chronological age said she should be slowing down. She was a wonderful role model for the rest of us in so many ways.

Sylvia would light up every room she entered. Her positive attitude, sense of humor, genuine care and concern for her friends and overall joyful personality made me a better person. It’s no wonder one of our dancers wrote a dance in her honor, “Sylvia, Full of Grace.” Sylvia blessed all who came in her contact. Happy dancing in Heaven, Sylvia.
