Obituary

Memorial services for Laura Lynn Grant Gooden, age 55, of Roanoke will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Scott Whaley and WC Pate officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:30 AM-11:00 AM on Tuesday before services begin.

Mrs. Gooden passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026, while camping at Lake Eufaula.

Survivors include her husband, Patrick Gooden; two daughters, Hannah (William) Ponder of Atlanta, GA and Allison Gooden of Roanoke; three grandchildren, Chloe Graben, Reed Johnson and Winnie Ponder; two sisters, Donna Grant Brown and Michelle (Don) McManus both of Roanoke; brother, Donnie (Deana) Grant, Jr. of Roanoke; mother-in-law, Jeanette Taylor of Roanoke; and a brother-in-law, Robin Taylor of Roanoke

A Randolph County native, Mrs. Gooden was born on July 24, 1971, the daughter of Donnie, Sr. and Helen Pate Grant. She was Christian by faith and worked as an office manager at Fiberglass Unlimited. Lynn was a selfless mother, but her favorite title was Grammy. She enjoyed being with her grandkids and camping on the lake. She always put others first, spending countless hours caring for everyone, especially her family and friends. She will always be remembered for her constant bright smile. She passed away while doing what she loved, camping with her family. Mrs. Gooden was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials may be floral or the family requests donations be made to Ronald McDonald House or to Children's Hospital of Alabama or to Children's Hospital of Atlanta.
