Funeral services for Margaret Rollins Smith, age 93, of Roanoke, will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Roanoke First Baptist Church with Bro. Scott Hannah and Bro. Ricky Daniel officiating.  Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 - 3:00 PM on Sunday before services begin.

Mrs. Smith passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at her home.

Survivors include her chosen daughters and friends, Judy Banks and Linda Eidson; sister, Ruth Rollins Bailey of Woodland; nieces and nephews, Ann Bryant (John), Robin Rollins (Patty), Connie Kellett (Johnny), Gloria Jackson, Jane Stroud, Doris Wilkerson, and James Smith; many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be her nephews: TJ Stroud, John Bryant, Robin Rollins, Johnny Kellett, Jonathan Kellett, and Dan Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Delta Kappa Gamma.

Mrs. Smith was born on November 11, 1932, daughter of Henry and Nannie Lou Gross Rollins.  She was a member of Roanoke First Baptist Church and had been employed as a teacher for Handley High School and Southern Union.  She was an avid Bible reader and enjoyed doing word searches, crossword puzzles, and jigsaw puzzles.  Mrs. Smith was an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the magazine club, and WMU, and she also taught the Philathea women’s Sunday school class for many years.  She was very active in helping with whatever she needed to do. She loved hosting her Smith family every December and her Rollins family every Christmas Day. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Smith; her parents; and siblings, Owen Rollins (Beulah) (Okelene), Calvin Rollins (Nancy), Mary Rollins Denny (Gus), and brother-in-law, Victor Bailey.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Roanoke First Baptist Church (827 Main Street, Roanoke,  AL 36274).
