Obituary of Catherine McCord Prestridge

Funeral services for Catherine McCord Prestridge, age 83, of Roanoke, will be held Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 2:00 pm from Roanoke First United Methodist Church with Rev. Harold Bonner and Rev. Ralph Barrow officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, April 25th. Mrs. Prestridge will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services on Saturday. Mrs. Prestridge died Thursday, April 24, 2014, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika. Survivors include one daughter, Valerie Prestridge Bonner (Harold) of Roanoke; one son, Craig Prestridge (Debbie) of Roanoke; four grandchildren, Blake, Emily, Laura and Rachel Prestridge. Pallbearers will be Blake Prestridge, Dr. Rockford McCord, Whit Bonner, Matt Land, Dr. Rishi Rajan, and Tim Dixon. A lifelong Randolph County resident, Mrs. Prestridge was born October 10, 1930, at Woodland, the daughter of Robert Howard and Myrah Rebecca Cosper McCord. She was a member of Roanoke First United Methodist Church and was an office manager at Prestridge Ford and homemaker. Mrs. Prestridge was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Garfield Prestridge; one son, Richard "Ricky" Prestridge; two brothers, Edwin McCord and Jimmy McCord. The family is accepting flowers or, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Roanoke First United Methodist Church.
