Funeral services for Geraldean Hurst Kirby, age 78, of Roanoke will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at 2:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Tim Steffey officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 15, 2016. Mrs. Kirby passed away Sunday, March 13, 2016, at Wedowee Hospital. Survivors include her husband, James H. Kirby of Roanoke; two daughters, Teresa Holmes (husband, Todd) of LaGrange, GA, and Cindy Cross (husband, Michael) of Orlando, FL; one son, Russell Kirby (wife, Beth) of Roanoke; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, James Hurst of Pell City. Pallbearers will be Chris Craven, Tony Burks, Joby Traylor, Mike Palmer, Daniel Anglin, and Joey Gay. A Talladega native, Mrs. Kirby was born on January 24, 1938, the daughter of Cephus and Mollie Bettis Hurst. She was Church of God by faith and worked as a winder for Wehadkee Mills and Candlewick Yarns. Mrs. Kirby was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Randy Kirby; two brothers, Bill Hurst and Frankie Hurst; and two sisters, Fannie Lu Waldrep and Faye Lawson.
