Obituary of Mary Patterson Allen

Funeral services for Mary Lee Patterson Allen, age 81, of Roanoke, will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at 2:00 PM from Woodland Church of God with Rev. Carolyn Hanner, Rev. Phillip Patterson, and Rev. Windell Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Gray Hill Church of God Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Monday, March 14, 2016. Mrs. Allen will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services beginning on Tuesday. Mrs. Allen passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Roanoke Health Care. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Barrett of Oneonta, AL and Sharon Metcalfe (husband, Jim) of Temple, GA; one son, Doyle Allen (wife, Anita) of Roanoke, AL; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Ina Mae Franklin of Sylacauga, AL; three brothers, Gilbert Patterson of Tyus, GA, Gerald Patterson of Tallapoosa, GA, and Clyde Patterson of Woodland, AL; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be A.J. Baldwin, Justin Baldwin, Tim May, Joel Franklin, Jim Metcalfe, and Byron Baldwin. A lifelong resident of Randolph County, Mrs. Allen was born on April 30, 1934, the daughter of Jesse and Leola Hand Patterson. She was a member of Woodland Church of God and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rev. Thomas P. Allen; one brother, Junior Patterson; and one infant sister, Mageline Patterson.
