Funeral services for Mary Joy Harris, age 65, of Roanoke will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at 11:00 AM from the First Baptist Church of Roanoke with Dr. Ben Bailie officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 12, 2016. Ms. Harris will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Wednesday. Ms. Harris passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. Survivors include her cousins, Marshall and Dawn Atha, Tony and Donna Harris, Elon and Ann Pope, and Becky Harris; best friends, Tim and Mary McDaniel; and her two cats, Tux and Willow. Pallbearers will be Matt Harris, Dusty Atha, Wesley Atha, Tim McDaniel, Randy Gann, and Lance Cawthon. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack’s Breakfast Club. A Roanoke native, Ms. Harris was born on July 31, 1950, the daughter of Loyce and Mariwyle Greene Harris. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Roanoke where she was a member of the choir, worked as a librarian at Annie L. Awbrey Library, and was an avid animal lover. Ms. Harris was preceded in death by her parents. Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Roanoke.
