Obituary of James Melvin Treadwell

Funeral services for James Melvin Treadwell, age 78, of Roanoke, will be held on Sunday, January 1, 2017, at 2:00 PM from Rock Stand Christian Church with Rev. Ryan Conger and Rev. Jason Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Rock Stand Christian Church Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Saturday, December 31, 2016. He will lie in state an hour prior to service beginning at 1:00 PM at the church. Mr. Treadwell passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at his residence. Survivors include: one daughter, Jackie Gilliland of Roanoke; one son, Jamie Treadwell (wife, Heather) of Roanoke; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Linda Williamson of Roanoke. Pallbearers will be Alan Williamson, Timmy Williamson, Tyler Gilliland, Gene Benefield, Lyn Richardson, and Buck Steeley. Mr. Treadwell was born on June 9, 1938, the son of Oscar Clyde and Ora Adcock Treadwell. He was a member of Rock Stand Christian Church and worked at Plantation Patterns. He was preceded in death by his wife, Novis Mitchell Treadwell; his parents; one daughter, Brandy Treadwell; one brother, Charles Treadwell; two grandchildren, Raymond Gilliland and Chloe Treadwell; and one sister, Geraldine Treadwell.
