Obituary of Doris Windsor

Funeral services for Doris C. Windsor, age 88, of Roanoke will be held Monday, March 20, 2017, at 2:00 pm from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Johnson and Rev. Mark McGhee officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Primitive Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday, March 19th. Mrs. Windsor died Saturday, March 18, 2017, at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange. Survivors include two daughters, Beth Pike (husband, Billy J.) of Standing Rock and Sara W. Carson of Roanoke; one son, John R. Windsor of Wadley; one sister, Shelvie Givorns of Lanett; 10 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 28 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be David Windsor, Tim Carson, Anthony Carson, Steven Carson, Cody Etie and Tyler Carson. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Givorns, Christopher Galloup and Nicholas Jones. A Woodland native, Mrs. Windsor was born April 16, 1928, the daughter of Lilton R. and Ara Thompson Calhoun. She was a member of Concord Primitive Baptist Church and had worked for many years at West Point Pepperell. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lee Windsor; two sisters, Lillis Calhoun and Bernice Benedict; two brothers, Billy H. Calhoun and David L. Calhoun.
