Obituary of Frances Knight Smith

Funeral services for Frances Knight Smith, age 91, of Roanoke, will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at 3:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jerry Wayne Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM prior to services on Thursday.

Mrs. Knight passed away on Monday, November 13, 2017 at Hospice LaGrange.

Survivors include one son, Kerby Wheeler Smith of Roanoke; two grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth Laxson of Atlanta.

Pallbearers will be Claude Farmer, Walter Wellborn, Jimmy Knight, Barry Harper, and Eddie Adams.

A Randolph County native, Mrs. Knight was born on December 18, 1925, the daughter of Edward Wilts Knight, Sr and Ruby Melinda Dunson. She was a member of First Baptist Church and worked as the county clerk in Dooly County, GA.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Smith; son, Wendell Keith Smith; two sisters, Annie Mae Wellborn and Linda Mayberry; and three brothers, Edward Knight, E.W. Knight, Jr, and James Knight.

The family will be accepting flowers or requests donations be made to First Baptist Church of Roanoke (827 Main Street, Roanoke, AL 36274).
