Obituary of Lovie Calhoun

Funeral services for Lovie Lee Calhoun, age 87, of Roanoke will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at 2:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev Mike Brewer officiating.  Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 30, 2018.

Mrs. Calhoun passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018, at her daughter’s home.

Survivors include: one daughter, Wanda McCarley (husband, Phillip) of Roanoke; two grandchildren, Chad Galloway (wife, Katie) and Stacy Dutrow (husband, Dwayne); and one great-grandchild, Kyle Dutrow.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Marcum, Stiles Williamson, Randy Hudson, Mike Smith, Kerry Burks, and Brian Brown.

A Rock Mills native, Mrs. Calhoun was born on August 5, 1930, the daughter of Edward D. and Dovie Chasteen Burks.  She was Baptist by faith and worked as a nurse’s aide at Randolph County Hospital.  Mrs. Calhoun was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy Calhoun; one great-grandchild, Mathew Galloway; three sisters, Ruby Hendricks, Louise Fuller, and Mozelle Hudson; four brothers, Hoyt Burks, Paul Burks, James Burks, and Pete Burks; and close friend, Archie Pike.
