Obituary of Robert Pierce Adamson

Funeral services for Robert Pierce Adamson, age 85, of Roanoke, will be held Sunday, May 30, 2010, at 3:00 pm from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Stanley Yarbrough officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Saturday, May 29th. Mr. Adamson died Friday, May 28, 2010, at Traylor Nursing Home. Survivors include his wife, Irene Towler Adamson of Roanoke; one daughter, Donna Burks (husband, Randy) of Rock Mills; a sister, Patricia Brown of Glenn, Ga.; a brother, Gene Adamson of Rock Mills; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild. A lifelong Randolph County resident, Mr. Adamson was born May 9, 1925, at Heard County, Georgia, the son of Vernon P. and Annie P. Adams Adamson. He was a WWII Navy veteran, a member of Bethany Lime Congregational Christian Church and had retired from Wehadkee Yarn Mills. He was preceded in death by a son, Danny Lee Adamson; his parents; a sister, Sara Vickery; and a brother, Troy Adamson.
