Obituary of Dr. Phillip Jackson Moseley, Sr.

Funeral services for Dr. Phillip Jackson Moseley, Sr., age 89, of Roanoke will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2015, at 3:00 PM from Roanoke First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ralph Barrow officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00-3:00 PM on Sunday before services begin. Dr. Moseley passed away Friday, May 01, 2015, at Traylor’s Nursing Center. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Moseley of Roanoke; two daughters, Lynn Hunt (husband, Bart) of Huntsville and Ruth Ann Moseley Biddle of Rainbow City; two sons, Phillip Jackson Moseley, Jr., (wife, Lisa) of Alabaster and Robert Upton Moseley (wife, Rebecca) of Auburn; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Phillip Peek, Kevin Corbett, Jeff Binkley, Gardner Moseley, Matt Williams, Brant Biddle, Alex Heald. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men’s Sunday School Class at the First Methodist Church. A Gadsden native, Dr. Moseley was born on November 6, 1925, the son of Elias Jackson and Willie Mary Kennedy Moseley. He was a member of Roanoke First United Methodist Church and was an optometrist in Roanoke for 50 years where he operated his own practice . He was preceded in death by his parents; one son-in-law, Jackie Charles Biddle; one brother, Max Moseley; and three sisters, Audrey Tinsley, Lucille Lockridge, and Iva Lee Moseley. Memorial may be floral or donations may be made to Roanoke First United Methodist Church.
