Obituary of Grover Harvey Broach

Funeral services for Grover Harvey Broach, age 87, of Roanoke will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015, at 2:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Billy Watts and Rev. Ed Grooms officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, September 18, 2015.
Mr. Broach passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015, at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Broach of Roanoke; one son, Richard Burke (wife, Shonda) of Wadley; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and one special niece, Geneva Hembree.
Pallbearers will be Josh Langley, Jeff Fulghum, Wayne Hembree, Dale Smith, David Smith, and Durane Smith. Honorary pallbearer will be Doug Whaley.
A Roanoke native, Mr. Broach was born on February 24, 1928, the son of Arthur and Roxie Richardson Broach. He was a member of North Main Congregational Christian Church, a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, and worked as an electrician. Mr. Broach was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Jeanette Broach; three sisters, Susie Dale, Sarah White, and Myrtice Ferrell; and three brothers, Ricky Broach, Roy Broach, and Dorsey Broach.

About Us
Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
