Obituary of James Lewis Robinson

Funeral services for James Lewis "Jim" Robinson, age 73, of Roanoke, will be held Monday, October 26, 2009, at 2:00 pm from Roanoke First United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Baccus officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday, October 25th. Mr. Robinson will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning at 1:00 pm on Monday.
Mr. Robinson died Saturday, October 24, 2009, at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Vinson Robinson of Roanoke; two daughters, Fran Robinson McMurray (Thomas) of Roanoke and Elizabeth Robinson Langley (Chris) of Chambers County; two sons, George W. Robinson II of Five Points and James L. "JimBo" Robinson III (Lynn), also of Five Points; a sister, Ludie E. Robinson of Montgomery; and ten grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be George Robinson, JimBo Robinson, Thomas McMurray, Chris Langley, James McMurray and Alan Higgins.
Honorary pallbearers will be Louie Ward, Paul McMurray, Jim McMurray, Don Green, Pooka (George) Robertson, Pat Awbrey, Mark Awbrey, Hal Finney, Jerry Cotney, Cal Green, Chad Green, Herbert Kimble, Bobby Durham and FUMC Men's Bible Class.
A Roanoke resident since 1967, Mr. Robinson was a Chambers County native, born March 17, 1936, son of George Welzie and Addie Cumbee Robinson. He was an Army veteran and a cattle farmer. He was a member of First United Methodist Church Roanoke; the Farm Service Agency Board of Directors; Chambers County Cattlemen's Association; the Alabama Cattlemen's Association; the Alabama Treasure Forest; and President of the FUMC Men's Bible Class.
