Obituary of Sarah Faye Knight

Funeral services for Sarah Faye Knight, age 79, of Roanoke, will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at 12:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Tim Whaley officiating. Burial will follow at Forrester’s Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, October 16, 2015.
Mrs. Knight passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2015, at Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include her husband, Franklin Knight of Roanoke; one daughter, Sharon Robinson of Roanoke; two sons, Roger Hester and Tony Hester, both of Roanoke; five grandchildren, Shasta Robinson-Yawn, Jason Hester, Matt Hester, Ashley Hester, and Malorie Hester; five great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Catherine Vinson (husband, Tom), Joyce Denham (husband, Herbert), Barbara McDow (husband, Herman), and Margaret Weathers (husband, Reese), all of Roanoke.
Pallbearers will be Jon Keith McDow, Stanley Manley, Jeff Manley, Mark Weathers, Jackie Albright, and Bruce Albright.
A Randolph County native, Mrs. Knight was born on December 27, 1935, the daughter of Pemiliton and Myrtis Brown Mitchell. She was a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church and had been employed with Palm Beach. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one son, Dennis James Hester.

Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
