Obituary of Mary Fulghum Wade

Funeral services for Mary Fulghum Wade, age 96, of Roanoke, will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2016, at 2:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jody Overton officiating. Burial will follow at Welcome Home Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM on Saturday, January 2, 2016. Mrs. Wade passed away on Friday, January 1, 2016, at West Georgia Hospice. Survivors include one son, Norman Wade (wife, Sandra) of Roanoke; one daughter, Brenda Brown of Roanoke; 11 grandchildren, Terry Wade of Five Points, Pam Burks of Rock Mills, Mary Perry of Rock Mills, Lori Nelson of Roanoke, Laine Mitchell of Woodland, Tina Landreth of Lanett, Sheila Wade of Lanett, April Wade of Roanoke, Scott Wade of Roanoke, Danny Wade of Roanoke, and Steven Mickle of Roanoke; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Maynona Hogan (husband, Billy) of Franklin. Pallbearers will be Terry Wade, Steven Perry, Russ Nelson, Cody McClurg, Scott Wade, Gerald Mitchell, Walt Mickle, and David Bradley. A Chambers County native, Mrs. Wade was born on January 18, 1919, the daughter of Willie and Lavonia Holloway Fulghum. She was a member of Maplewood Baptist Church and was retired from Handley Mills and Lanett Mills. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leroy Wade; three sons, Larry, Haywood, and Jerry Wade; three sisters, Kate Lecroy, Betty Jean Morgan, and JoAnn Sanders; and five brothers, Herman, David, Harold, Bobby, and Lamar Fulghum.
