Funeral services for Walter Leroy “Roy” Pike, age 84, of Lanett, formerly of Randolph County, will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at 2:00 PM CST from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Christian Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 PM CST on Tuesday, February 2, 2016.
Mr. Pike passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2016, at Chattahoochee Hospice.
Survivors include two daughters, Sherrye Pike Johnson (husband, Marty) of Lanett and Cindy Pike Vetrano (husband, Frank) of Birmingham; four grandchildren, Cristy Johnson Watkins, Matthew David Johnson, Lucy Ward Vetrano, and Walter Franklin Vetrano; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Faye Pike Wesson of Roanoke.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Johnson, Walter Vetrano, Eddie Pike, Benji Watkins, Mike Wesson, and Larry Crozier.
A Randolph County native, Mr. Pike was born on August 6, 1931, the son of Eddie Willington and Millie Pearl Folsom Pike. He was a member of Lanier Baptist Church, a former member of Mt. Zion Christian Church, and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Pike had worked for Callaway Mills, West Point Pepperell as a chemical engineer, and retired from Fairfax Mill. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Shirley Findley Pike.

Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
