Obituary of Willard Earl, Sr.

Funeral services for Willard Earl, Sr., age 76, of Roanoke, will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at 11:00 AM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Stanley Yarbrough and Rev. Mark Aills officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, February 2, 2016. Mr. Earl passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2016, at UAB Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Woodlee Earl of Roanoke; two daughters, Sherry Lancaster (husband, Robert) of Rogersville, AL and Stacy Bonnett of Sylacauga, AL; one step-daughter, Onica Sanders (husband, Tim) of Roanoke; one son, Willard Earl, Jr. (wife, Darlene) of Roanoke; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mildred Lipham. Pallbearers will be Chris Lancaster, Jeremy Lancaster, Jonathan Bonnett, Casey Bonnett, P.J. Purdy, and Riley Earl. Rocky Smith will serve as an honorary pallbearer. A lifelong resident of Randolph County, Mr. Earl was born on November 10, 1939, the son of Leonard and Evelyn Pitts Earl. He attended Bethany Lime Christian Church and retired from Roanoke City Schools and West Point Stevens. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Betty Ramsey; one brother, Eslin Earl; and one sister, Dorothy Ward.
