Funeral services for Ruth D. Graves, age 85, of Roanoke will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at 2:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ralph Barrow officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 9, 2016.
Mrs. Graves passed away Monday, February 08, 2016, at Wedowee Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, John Graves of Roanoke; one son, Albert “Jack” Wood, Jr., (wife, Susan) of Valley; two stepdaughters, Donna Sapp (husband, Donnie) of Macclenny, FL, and Debra Graves of Macclenny, FL; one stepson, Joseph Graves of Paris, KY; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruby J. Hodnett of Roanoke; and one brother, James Dunn of Roanoke.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Hodnett, David Hodnett, Terry Kennedy, Jerry Pope, David Harmon, and Daryl Harmon.
A resident of Randolph County most of her life, Mrs. Graves was born in Troup County, Georgia on April 28, 1930, the daughter of Harold and Mary Eulala Pope Dunn. She was a member of Roanoke First United Methodist Church, was retired from Dura Cell Battery, and was a proud supporter of the Randolph County Soup Kitchen. Mrs. Graves was preceded in death by her first husband, Albert Wood, Sr.; her parents; one stepson, John E. Graves, Jr.; stepfather, Reuben J. Garrett; two stepbrothers, Herman Garrett and Jarrell Garrett; and two stepsisters, Lera Bolt and Margaret Stephens.

Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
