Obituary of Brenda Gail Bailey Mapp

Funeral services for Brenda Gail Bailey Mapp, age 66, of Roanoke will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at 1:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Derek Farr officiating. Burial will follow at Fellowship Baptist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 12, 2016.
Ms. Mapp passed away Monday, April 11, 2016, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
Survivors include her fiancé, James C. Sheppard of Roanoke; three daughters, Teresa Gail Hill of Hogansville, Ga, Marsha Lynn Yarbrough of Roanoke, and Alicia Carol Moon of Auburn; two sons, Shannon Ray Mapp and David Noah Mapp, both of Roanoke; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Debbie Rogers of Pell City, Shelia Garrett of Cropwell, AL, and Karen Cummings of Roanoke.
Pallbearers will be Ms. Mapp’s grandsons.
A Roanoke native, Ms. Mapp was born on November 8, 1949, the daughter of John T. Bailey, Jr., and Opal Norred Yarbrough. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Ms. Mapp was preceded in death by her parents and a half-sister, Stacey Sheppard.
Memorials may be floral or donations may be sent to Fellowship Cemetery Fund c/o L.W. Culbertson or Bobby Norred.

Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
