Obituary of Marie Sims Whitmore

Graveside services for Marie Sims Whitmore, age 93, of Roanoke will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Bethel East Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Ridley Herren officiating. Quattlebaum Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, May 13, 2016. Mrs. Whitmore passed away Sunday, May 8, 2016, at Traylor’s Nursing Center. Survivors include: one brother, James Powell Sims of Jackson, MS, and several nieces and nephews. A Laurel, Mississippi native, Mrs. Whitmore was born on September 30, 1922, the daughter of Orbie Watson and Eddie Marie Burgess Sims. She was Baptist by faith and was a housewife. Mrs. Whitmore was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Elmer Whitmore.
