Obituary of Heflin Carden

Funeral services for Heflin Carden, age 76, of Roanoke, will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at 10:00 AM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Larry McDaniel and Rev. Anthony Herren officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Congregational Christian Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 1, 2016.
Mr. Carden passed away on Monday, May 30, 2016, in Louisville, Tennessee.
Survivors include: two daughters, Angie Hawkins Benefield (husband, Larry) of Five Points and Donna Hobbs (husband, Todd) of Virginia; one son, Russell Carden (wife, Sheryl) of Heflin; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Ryan, Ashley Cook, Jenny Camp, Caleb Benefield, Briston Benefield, Monique Sims, and Josh Leavins; and five great-grandchildren, Landon Camp, Brandon Camp, Jasper Benefield, Anzleigh Sims, and Preston Sims.
Pallbearers will be Gene Benefield, Jim Ryan, Darrell Camp, Josh Leavins, and Caleb Benefield.
Honorary pallbearers will be J.L. Bolt, Larry McDaniel, and Larry Benefield.
A lifelong resident of Randolph County, Mr. Carden was born on July 23, 1939, the son of Heflin Filmore and Mae Collier Marchman Carden. He was a United States Navy Veteran, a member of Antioch Congregational Christian Church and had been employed at Candlewick as a supervisor. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ressa Faye Carden; one daughter, Joyce Hawkins; and two grandsons, Larry Benefield, Jr. and Timothy Don Henry, Jr.

About Us
Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
