Obituary of Corene Pullen Hester

Funeral services for Corene Pullen Hester, age 88, of Roanoke, will be held on Friday, June 3, 2016, at 3:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Richie Farrow officiating. Burial will follow at High Pine Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00-3:00 PM on Friday, June 3, 2016. Mrs. Hester passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at the home of her niece, Toni Brown, in Athens, Alabama. Survivors include: one sister, Maxine Vineyard of Newnan, Georgia, and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Chris Brown, Russell Vineyard, Brett Taylor, John Slay, Tyler Slay, and Jimmy Spivey. A Randolph County native, Mrs. Hester was born on July 29, 1927, the daughter of John T. and Mattie Bell Smith Pullen. She was a member of High Pine Baptist Church and was retired from Handley Mills where she worked as a spinner. Mrs. Hester was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Manuel Hester; one son, J.D. Hester; one brother, Vilous Pullen; and two sisters, Lurline Young and Kathleen Spivey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to High Pine Baptist Cemetery.
