Funeral services for Janell Sheppard, age 81, of Roanoke, will be held on Friday, June 10, 2016, at 2:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Frank Foster, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty East Baptist Church Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, June 9, 2016.
Mrs. Sheppard passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at her home.
Survivors include her husband, Harlin Sheppard of Roanoke; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lucille Shiflett of Woodland, Sarah Hanvey of Rock Mills, and Betty Bailey of Roanoke; special niece, Teressa Kirby.
Pallbearers will be Tim McManus, Lee Phillips, Tony Sheppard, Bobby Sheppard, Kenneth Phillips, Riley Burke, and Dalton Burke.
A lifelong resident of Randolph County, Mrs. Sheppard was born on July 22, 1934, the daughter of Prince and Eucal Barfield Chappell. She had been employed as a sewing machine operator with Palm Beach Company. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Cindy Phillips; one son, Mike Sheppard; grandson, Tommy Burke; two sisters, Mildred Bonds and Frances Kirby; and four brothers, Charlie Chappell, William Chappell, Bobby Chappell, and Howard Chappell.
The family will accept flowers or contributions to Rock Mills cemetery fund c/o Sherry Towler (66664 Highway 22, Roanoke, Al 36274).
