Obituary of Brenda Sue Overton

OBITUARY Funeral services for Brenda Sue Overton, age 62, of Roanoke, will be held Sunday, December 19, 2010, at 2:00 pm from Center Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. J. D. Bearden officiating. Burial will follow at the adjoining cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Saturday, December 18th. Mrs. Overton will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services on Sunday beginning at 1:00 pm. Mrs. Overton died Thursday, December 16, 2010, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. Survivors include her husband, Rev. Joseph G. "Jody" Overton of Roanoke; three daughters, Belinda Murr (Ben) of Roanoke, Tracey Baldwin (Joseph) of Woodland and Dawn Barber (Eric) of Roanoke; one sister, Joyce Coker of New Site; one brother, Donnie Hinkle of Roanoke; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Cody Clark, Cody Grant, Danny Bailey, Shaun Coker, Matt Livingston and Scott Livingston. Honorary pallbearers will be Britt Dunlap and Benjamin Dunlap. A lifelong Roanoke resident, Mrs. Overton was born June 12, 1948, daughter of Roy E. and Myrtie Holloway Hinkle. She was a homemaker and a member of Center Chapel Baptist Church.
