Funeral services for Billy Gene Stewart, age 72, of Roanoke will be held on Monday, October 3, 2016, at 2:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Timmy Tipton officiating. Burial will follow at Forrester’s Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Sunday, October 2, 2016. Mr. Stewart passed away Friday, September 30, 2016, at Traylor’s Nursing Center. Survivors include: one daughter, Heather Treadwell (husband, Jamie) of Roanoke; three sons, Scott Stewart (wife, April) of Wadley, Doyle Stewart (wife, Alicia) of McDonough, GA, and Heath Stewart of Roanoke; nine grandchildren; and two brothers, Pete Stewart of Wadley and Johnny Stewart of Locust Grove, GA. Pallbearers will be Chris Langley, Cory Langley, Jake Langley, Mike Brown, Jimmy Bennett, Michael Caypless, Paul Wilkerson, and Chad Wilkinson. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Estes and Bennett Wheeles. A Randolph County native, Mr. Stewart was born on January 17, 1944, the son of William Elton and Elva Mabelle Noles Stewart. He served in the United States National Guard and worked as a carpenter. Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bobby Stewart and Tommy Stewart.
