Mr. Dennis James Funke, age 66, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Wedowee Hospital.
Survivors include: his wife, Barbara Funke; step-daughters, Laura Stanell of Bradenton, FL and Caryn Marshall of Lake Villa, IL; son, Todd Funke of Groveland, FL; six grandchildren; three sisters, Charlene McLeod of Asheville, NC, Cynthia Burt of Apopka, FL, and Jessica King of Asheville, NC; and one brother, Rodney Funke of Chuluota, FL.
A Detroit, Michigan native, Mr. Funke was born on March 5, 1950, the son of James Funke and Betty White. Mr. Funke was an avid British sports car enthusiast. He won 1st place two years in a row at the Atlanta Concours d’Elegance for the restoration of his treasured 1971 Jaguar. He was a member of St. Barnabas Church. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private service will be held at a later date with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
