Funeral services for James Calvin “J.C.” Overton, age 30, of Roanoke will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at 2:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ricky Emery and Rev. Derek Farr officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, November 4, 2016. Mr. Overton passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2016. Survivors include his wife, Brooke Farmer Overton of Roanoke; his parents, Rev. Elton and Becky Overton of Roanoke; mother and father-in-law, Keith and Teresa Farmer; one sister, Buffy Overton Laws (husband, Kiley) of Roanoke; one brother, Jody Overton of Roanoke; and special niece and nephew, Ryder and River Laws. Pallbearers will be Michael Caypless, Drew Wilson, Caleb Dabbs, Michael Tripp, Chris Harmon, and Lee Bennett. Honorary pallbearers will be Sonny Lambert, James Sorrells, Jr., Scott Woody, Kyle Burgess, Joseph Najmeh, William Boyd, Rocky Cook, Tim Jones, Richie Sims, and Chris Lashley. A Roanoke native, Mr. Overton was born on October 2, 1986, the son of William Elton and Rebecca Harcrow Overton. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and worked as a field technician for TEC Phone Company. Mr. Overton was preceded in death by a nephew, Patrick Laws and his grandparents, William “Bill” and Era Louise Overton and Lester and Pauline Harcrow.
